1.0   THE COMMUNITY BACKGROUND

Afigya kwabre is one of the forty-three (43) political administrative districts in the Ashanti region. It was carved out of the then Afigya kwabre District on the 14th day of November 2017 by legislative instrument (L.I 2333), with Kodie as its District capital. The district is located in the central part of Ashanti region and has an area of about 122 square kilometers. The district is bounded by Suame municipal Assembly to the south, Afigya kwabre north to the North, Atwima Nwabiagya North to the West Sekyere South to the North East and Kwabre East municipal to the South East.

Economically, Afigya Kwabre south can be divided into two;

Urban centers whose principal occupation is trading and manufacturing ,among the known urban areas include Kodie, Heman ,Bronkom,Atimatim and Afrancho

Small communities / rural areas whose main occupation is agriculture and few of them engage in petty trading ,such communities include Ankaase,Ejuratia,Wawase,Mpobi,Abrade,etc


2.0 EXISTING AND ONGOING GOVERNMENT DEVELOPMENTAL PROJECTS 

 Construction of Three unit class room for Ankaase D/A JHS , Commissioned 

Construction of Heman-Ejuratia-Ankaase road, ongoing

Construction of administration block at Amponsem senior high technical school



3.0 PROBLEMS CONFRONTING THE PEOPLE

Poor road network

Unemployment

Armed robbery attacks 

Teenage pregnancy 

School dropout 

Alcoholism and drug addict 



4.0 MY PROJECT

Creation of scholarship fund to support brilliant but needy students and skills trainees (apprentice). 

 Despite the Myriad of problems confronting Afigya Kwabre South, my project seeks to focus on the improvement of Education in all levels. Areas my project will focus include;

Islamic education

Basic education 

Senior high school

Technical and vocational education 

 Skills training (apprenticeship)





         5.0 THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM 

The economic malice confronting most communities within the district has renders most parents irresponsible and incapable of catering for their wards ,which has occasioned a reason for children of school going age to start working to support themselves.

This has resulted to streetism, child labor, drug addiction, and school dropout among young people within the constituency.

These irresponsible behaviors among the youths pose serious threat to the security and peace of the constituency.

Should these problems be overlooked and persist, it will retard and jeopardize the development and well-being of the constituents.


6.0 SOCIO-ECONOMIC BENEFIT OF THE PROJECT 

a. The project will encourage enrollment of students in all fields of education within the constituency.

b. The project will promote peace and security.

c. It will also enhance literacy in the constituency.

d. Develop more middle class citizens within constituency. 

f. The project will help the constituents to secure decent and lucrative jobs through, Education, skills training and carrier guidance. 

g. The project will also uplift religious and moral education in the constituency.


7.0 SOLUTIONS PROPOSED TO MITIGATE SOCIETAL PROBLEMS.

A Scholarship fund will be created for brilliant but needy students and selected skills trainees within Afigya Kwabre south constituency. We shall engage the assistance of traditional leaders, religious leaders, Assembly members, educational stakeholders, donors, NGOs, and constituents to help create an educational fund, which will be named “kwabre south scholarship fund’’. The fund will be used to support brilliant but needy students and skills trainees within the constituency. On the field of skills training, the fund shall be used to build a vocational training center to equip the youths in the constituency with a 21st century job market skills such ICT,building and construction, fashion and design, pastries, detergents, tailing, carpentry, electrical engineering  and among many others  

a. The first stage of the project will focus on stakeholder engagement. This is where traditional leaders, religious leaders, educational stakeholders, donors, NGOs, business community, politicians and constituents will be engaged for consultation, acceptance and prayers.

b. The second stage will be public sensitization about the nature of the project, eligibility, how the funds are going to be generated and utilized,

c. The third stage will focus on fund raising. 

                   The nature of the project on the part of students

Students will be selected from the basic level, all their data and academic credentials will be collected from the school he or she attends and digitalized.

Our scholarship team will visit schools within the constituency time to time to see to the material well-being of selected student and accessed first-hand information about students’ academic progress or performance.

The selected students from the basic level will receive financial support from Afigya Kwabre south scholarship team throughout his or her study in the second cycle level.

Finally selected students who successfully passed the wassce and got admission to any tertiary institution shall receive full scholarship from the scholarship team, both fees and accommodation will be carted for.

Extra support will also be giving to those who would be studying courses such as medicine, law and engineering, both local and abroad

Those willing to enter the security service will also be entitled to same benefit. 

The nature of the project on the part of skills trainees (apprenticeship)

The fund shall be used to build a vocational training center to equip the youths in the constituency with a 21st century job market skills such ICT,building and construction, fashion and design, pastries, detergents, tailing, carpentry, electrical engineering  and among many others  

Skills trainees will also be entitle to the benefit given by the kwabre south scholarship team. Those willing to learn dress making, mason, carpentering, tilling, and other craft works will be given both financial and material assistance before and after training.

9.0 PROJECT BUDGECT 

The amount of money needed at the initial stage is $ 500,000

Total amount that would be needed for the project is estimated at $ 1 million 

10. INTENDED PROCUREMENT FOR THE PROJECT

Securing an Office complex, computers and electronic gadgets, vehicle, banded t-shirts, building of 1000 capacity training center and finally investment of some percentage of the fund

The project will commence on 13th November 2023

11.0 PROJECT LAUNCH AND FUND RAISING

The project will be launched on 11th November 2023
